Overview / Aims

West London Churches Homeless Concern relieves poverty among street homeless people in west London by providing accommodation, advice and support. Each winter since 1999, ten to twelve churches of different denominations in West London have provided the venues for our night shelter. Many other churches provide financial and in-kind support. In particular, our charity provides:

  • London’s largest winter night shelter – 35 bed spaces every night between November and April
  • year-round daytime services including laundry, clothing and washing facilities from its base in Chelsea
  • a caseworker service – offering advice, advocacy and practical support to shelter guests
  • information on support services for homeless people in west London
West London Churches Homeless Concern (WLCHC) is a registered charity (Charity No. 1083203) and company limited by guarantee and is governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association. The company was incorporated on 17 March 2000 and registered as a charity on 6 November 2000. The relevant corporate documents are kept at the WLCHC office and are available upon request.

It is our ethos to provide our services in a welcoming, inclusive and non-judgemental way and welcome all who come through our doors.

We continue to work closely with other non-statutory agencies and are members of Housing Justice who provide training for our volunteers. WLCHC is an active member of the London Winter Shelters Forum and Kensington & Chelsea Rough Sleepers forum, and we continue to share our experience and expertise with other night shelters and agencies.
